Hey everyone. Let’s enjoy a nice ride down to the Oxley Diner in Leslie, Arkansas. I’m waiting for a better picture of the weather for next week. I’ll be updating this RTE post with a definite date real soon. Probably be the 12th or 13th. Just need some warm temps and no rain.
Look forward to seeing everyone.

Wow !! What a great RTE (Ride To Eat) today down to the Oxley Store and Diner in Oxley Arkansas !! 150-170+ miles for each of us. 14 riders today. Not bad. Only one of the Royal Oak Boys showed up. It was Charles. I gave him a ROMEO card. He’s looking for an older Harley project bike. We can vet him once he’s ready to ride.
Todd Merryman and I met at the Exxon station in Gassville Arkansas at 8:45am. We rode over to the popular Briarcliff sign where we met up with Neil “The Legend” Smith, John “Fast Hands” Hamilton, Mike “Music Man” Rowland and Mr. Don “Can I get a ToGo Box” Shepard. After 20 minutes of fun conversation, it was time to head to Oxley Arkansas. Neil “Speed Racer” Smith was our leader followed by Todd “No Chicken Strips” Merryman and the rest of us. What a great ride. Push Mountain to 14 to 263 to 66. When we arrived at the diner, Mr. Jim Eickman was chillin and just waiting for us. He took back gravel roads .. cannot imagine his route and he still beat us. He’s really something.
The weather going down this morning was real nice until the temperature and dew point spread decided to be less than 4 degrees giving us moist curvy roads (elevated pucker factor), rain and heavy fog. Still, Neil forged on at solid speeds bringing us safely to the diner. I don’t think Neil’s tires broke loose more than just two times on the wet curves.
Other riders who showed up were Mike “Can shoot an aspirin at 30 yards” Newlun, Bill “Heck of a Bowler” Harakidas, Joey “Wants a Moto Guzzi” Crawford, Scott “Separate Checks” Merryman, Gary “Funny Man” Oden, and Jeff and Mary “Love their BMWs” Smith. Think that’s 14.
Thank you to the wonderful Oxley Diner staff Angela, Mindy, Debbie and Kristen. You all worked hard and made us feel real welcome. We will return .. just a warning.
