Changes to the Forums

Post by JerryM100 »

Guys, I have made some changes to the forums that many have requested. I have removed the area descriptions from each of the forums and changed the titles to improve consistency. I have also deleted the sub-forums "Weekly Rides" from several of the forums so all of the groups' forums are "flat", or have no sub-forums. They are all named "weekly rides" now since that is what they are for, and any other bs goes into the General Discussion forum.

One thing I had not anticipated is that when I moved all the topics from the Weekly Ride sub-forums into their parent forums that the system thinks I have not read them yet and marks them all in red. For some of you, if you had not noticed, topics that you haven't read yet appear in red until you click on them. That way you can quickly see what is new since you last logged in. Of course, if you don't have a login account the system doesn't know you and the topics will always be blue since it doesn't know what you have read or not.

So anyway, if you go into the Eastern Kansas forum or the North Central Kansas forum and all the topics appear in red, just look at the very top of the list of topics and you will see where it says "Mark all topics read". If you click on that it will mark every topic in that forum so it thinks you have read them all and they will appear in blue as normal.

Hope all this makes sense, it really is a great system if you understand all its features. Don't hesitate to post a question in the "Post your feedback" forum or just send me an email if you have any questions at all.

Of course, if you have complaints send them directly to Don. He is direclty responsible if anything goes wrong at all. :D

Very interesting. It appears that not only Richard but all users don't have the edit button on their posts now. Something changed when I edited the forums last night. This is always what I am afraid of when I do mass changes. I will investigate some more and search for a solution. Sorry for any inconvenience.

Jerry:

I like the changes, much cleaner looking and less involved to find the weekly rides. It is fun to watch the forum grow and others finding good uses for it. It will be interesting to see how the Romeo groups change over the next few years. Thanks for all your work on the website.

I will try to post pictures from the Eskridge ride again. Change is simplistic for us non computer types. Tying it to the map is a superb idea, especially for a quick find on a Wednesday morning when we are in a hurry to find out where to go. THANKS FOR TELLING US WHERE TO GO!!!!!
THANK GOD for every minute you are alive and then ride your bike like you stole it!!!!!
