Re: LUNCH RIDE WEDNESDAY 7-16-14 TO WHITE CITY
Guys - I'm really sorry to have missed this one. It's been many a day since I've scheduled a ride over to White City and I know I really would have enjoyed it. Big Jim tells me that the little place had just come under new ownership and the folks there were really excited to have us come. Unfortunately, I guess they must have had some kitchen issues with their stove or oven or some such because I heard that the ladies had to go to their homes and do the cooking and bring the food back.
This is going over and above in my opinion and they deserve a big vote of gratitude in doing such a thing. There are places I know of that would just have scrapped the day and sent us packing rather than go to the trouble to do what they did to save the day both for themselves and the group.
I plan on going back soon just to show our appreciation for a job well done.
Thanks Big Jim on filling me in on the details of the day here.
Turnout for the day was 18 with the record holder for long distance for the day being Tad Leasure from Independence. Now I don't know if he meant Kansas or Missouri or what he rode since he doesn't list it, but I'll bet if I took time and got out my map I could figure it out. Unfortunately, my maps are still packed somewhere after my trip so if you happen to know Tad just give him a big attaboy!
