Wed 3-2-11 Ride
Re: Wed 3-2-11 Ride
Trying to time Kansas weather will drive you nuts, John. We never really know Wednesday's weather until Thursday. Just set things for the same day each week and we can look out the window to see if we're riding or driving. Better weather is coming.
I haven't been to Susie's for a while. The huge chili cheese dog sounds good, but it doesn't leave much room for pie.
Hopefully, I won't get Brian and I lost again. Well, we weren't really lost, just off course five miles or so. (Davy Crockett is reputed to have once said that he'd never been lost, but was a mite bewildered for a few days one time.) Being the gentleman he is, Brian followed me last week until I realized that we were headed for the wrong town. (I could have sworn that the arrow on the sign pointed right...)

Re: Wed 3-2-11 Ride
HA-HA-HA !!! Yes Roger, when we met you riding east and we were riding west on that east/west blacktop out of Sedgwick, it made me mentally stop and think for a minute "wait, which town are we going to, did I miss it, they are going the other way".... but all ended well and it was a good turnout with some good pizza....
Just a little senic route you through in....

Re: Wed 3-2-11 Ride
Busy Day.
Up at 6:30am. Down to Y to exercise at 7:00am. Back home at 8:30am.
5 S's ( shower, shave, shampoo, shine, and s )
Down to Motorsports at 10:00. Ride to Eldorado.
Guess who we met there????
Glad to see him. Check pix.
These are the standard foot long dogs. WOW!
Ate and shot bull. GOOD company.
Home by 2:30pm. Ford dealer called to say they had my motorhome rims. $608 for two. Put bike up and jumped into pickup. To dealer and back home. Loaded rims into motorhome and took to tire shop.
New rims BENT like old ones. Took rims back to Ford in motorhome. Much discussions to find out what I had done to fix front wheel hop/shimmy. All wheel alignment, balanced tires, replaced all tires with heavier duty ones. Replaced shocks, checked wheel bearings. NOTHING has helped. Dealer said to leave r v. They took me home.
I WANT TO GO BACK TO WORK. It's easier than being retired.

Re: Wed 3-2-11 Ride
There was a song out years ago about "One toke over the Line". It ain't a toke, but that cheese dog is definitely one something over the line.
There is a new place in Madison open. We need to think about a combined ride.

Re: Wed 3-2-11 Ride
I had a great ride to El Dorado. I headed south from Emporia to 54 west. The ride from Eureka to El Dorado through the Flint Hills was spectacular. It was great to see the Wichita Romeos and the hospitality was over the top. Check out the picture of the hot dog and tater tots. Whow, these guys know how to eat!! I was hoping to get the award for the most miles traveled for the Romeo Lunch, but General Bob signed in after me and he had ridden one more mile than me.
I rode 202 and Bob rode 203!!! This seems to be a familiar story.
As usual the lunch conversation was fun. One thing that I thought particularly interesting was one of the guys, I think they called him "DR" had permanently mounted his Gerbing Dual Controller on the left side of us cockpit on his Gold Wing. It really looked nice, neat and easy to see and reach. Plus fewer wires hanging around.
Coming home I briefly saw 66 degrees, sunny and lots of baby calves. I love seeing baby calves. It is a sure sign spring is just around the corner. I think looking at young calves frolicking in the warm sunny reminds me of my youth. That sound a little sick, doesn't it?
My route took me west to Chanute through Beaumont, no airplanes but beautiful country.
OK Richard your next!!
You all take care and ride safe. It is beautiful out there enjoy!!
