Can't login?

Post by JerryM100 »

If you still can't login to the forums here please email me (jerry@romeoriders.com) or send a message through the contact form (https://romeoriders.com/contact-us/). The issue is caused by the new firewall server that I purchased a few weeks ago to stop the blizzard of attacks from Singapore. The server IP address changed from the old server to the new one, the security certificates changed, and everyone's logon cookies don't recognize the new server so your logins are failing.

I know most people don't understand security certificates or cookies but they are not anything you can manage directly. Your computer uses them every time you use any web page that shows a lock or green icon in the URL at the top. That means your connection is encrypted and protected, from your computer to the website you are viewing. All websites use these now and they are usually completely transparent in daily use.

Most people won't even notice the issue because they just read the posts in their respective regional forums. You don't have to log in if you don't make any posts. But if you want to post some pics or a reply or sell something in the marketplace you will need to have an account and login.

The fix is simple: I will reset your password and log into your account for you. This will bypass any possible IP address lockout at the server (usually from too many failed login attempts) and also bypass any outdated security cookies on your computer (since I will login from my computer). Once I login and reset your account you will be good to go. I have fixed many, many people over the last couple of weeks.

Yes, it is inconvenient, but it was necessary to protect ourselves from the constant attacks. A web application firewall (WAF) is a very powerful defense against many kinds of hackers, spammers, and bots. Having one was probably overdue.

So that's the story of why you are having problems logging in and how I can help you.
