HAPPY THANKSGIVING

HAPPY THANKSGIVING FROM VIRGINIA

After the our monthly meeting we headed over to the Apple House in Linden, VA for lunch. The fire was warm and the food was good. I thought this picture could be a Christmas card.

It was hard to leave the comfortable chairs and the warm fire. From Apple house I got on I-81 and headed south to New Market, where I exited and headed east on 211 to Luray. Highway 211 from New Market to Sperryville has to be one of the most fun rides in Virginia. You can really test and "hone" your riding skills on this road.

It is hard to go through Luray without a quick stop at Cooters. Cooters was already bouncing with "Holiday Cheer".

From Luray I continued east on 211 to Skyline drive and headed north to Front Royal. On the Tuesday before Thanksgiving I had Skyline Drive all to myself and it was a beautiful ride.

Doesn't this look like I am in an airplane?

One of Melissa's favorite treats for the holiday's is peppermint ice cream. Back in Kansas is was pretty easy to find at Christmas time, but not in Virginia. :!: Edy's and all the ice cream makers Kansas made peppermint ice cream for the holiday's, but they don't sell it in Virginia. C & C Frozen Treats in Front Royal makes their own ice. Some years back I asked them if they would make peppermint ice cream, and they said sure :!: I called on Monday and he said it would be ready on Tuesday, by the quart or by the cone, so that was my next stop.
