https://www.shrinemont.com/It must cover over 300 acres. There are over 50 free standing cabins and lodges, with shrines, walking trails and places for relaxation and meditation. It was obvious it is for persons of the Episcopal Faith, but everyone is welcome. However, information about the place was not free flowing or it was the first day on the job for the person I was talking to.
This Saturday 8/17/2024, they are having The Oak Ridge Boys on their Farewell Tour. Outdoor seating for approximately 600 at $83 a ticket. On the ride to Orkney Springs, we stopped at a very nice general store & deli for a cup of coffee in Baker, WV. We didn't eat but the sandwiches really looked good and the place was spotless. We didn't stay for the $17 Greek Salad and pita bread lunch at Shrine Mont although they said welcome. They ring a dinner bell at 12:30 and everyone eats.
I had enough Episcopal welcoming for one day, so we headed down the road to Bayse, VA to the Pale Fire Brewing Co. for lunch. We had a beer and a really good lunch.
This is a very good ride, good roads and beautiful Virginia and West Virginia countryside, rivers and mountains.
If you want the .gpx file and/or the track of this ride, let me know I will be glad to provide it.
