After lunch we enjoyed a scenic ride into Weston, WV where we took an informative ninety minunte tour of the Trans-Allegheny Lunatic Asylum. https://trans-alleghenylunaticasylum.com/ John, our guide, did an excellent job of describing what had gone on there, in both a serious and light-hearted manner. The tour was educational as well as entertaining.
After an afternoon at the "LUNATIC ASYLUM we were ready for some R & R. We stayed at the Hampton Inn in Weston and went to Don Patron for a fiesta and some unbelieveable margaritas.
There's one in every crowd
My favorite girl, always laughing and always fun!
Phyllis was looking for a date
After a nice breakfast at the Hampton we rode off to the American Museum of American Glass in Weston. https://magwv.org/ Remember all the glass items that were in your grandmother's house? Well, we found them and a whole lot more. We even found the marbles that had been lost at the lunatic asylum.
This is a glass doll house
After loosing our marbles at the lunatic asylum and finding them at the glass museum we continued our ride to a luxury resort for lunch, the Stonewall Resort, which has an address of Roanoke, but is only thirty minutes from Weston. "CLOSE TO NATURE - FAR FROM ORDINARY" https://www.stonewallresort.com/?&utm_s ... _term=STON
From the gorgeous Stonewall Resort we started back to Lake Frederick. We had planned on ending our trip in our traditional way of having ice cream at the New Town Creamery in Stephens City, but the group wanted the ice cream that they had seen at CJ Maggies in Elkins, but were too full the eat. Our route wasn't taking us back through Elkins, but some crafty sole noticed that CJ Maggies had a second location in Buckhannon, WV, which was on our route. Oh yes It just might have been the best ice cream were had ever had
By now, it was getting late in the afternoon and no one wanted to go home and cook, so we ended a wonderful trip with a great home cooked meal at Kac-Ka-Pon restaurant in Wardensville, WV
