This is the ROMEO's first annual "First Day of Summer Ride". We are going to Pioneer Village in Minden, Nebraska on June 22 and June 23. Melissa and I rode up there and we were really impressed. Not only is it a museum of "The story of America and How it Grew", but you can camp, stay in a motel, eat and go to the museum and never move your motorcycle (or car). It is a small town with a laid back atomosphere that you will really enjoy. We really enjoyed the ride up there. We took 36 going and 24 coming home. Both were nice and when things green up a little more it will really be nice. I know a lot of you have been to Pioneer Village and I hope you will come back. You know there is so much to see you can't see it all in one day and everytime you go you will see something new. For those that just want to ride, I picked up lots of info on the Sandhills and I was told the riding is very good.
But whatever you choose to do you know it is about friendship and being together. They have a nice restaurant and I have made arrangements for a private room Tuesday evening. The food is good and the breakfast is really good. Notice that the price of the campground $26.50 includes a free ($10.95) ticket to the museum and the $59.00+ motel room also includes a free pass to the museum. There are a limted number of first floor motel rooms, so call NOW!! You can cancel the day of per Ross Woods, Pioneer Village 800-445-4447.
Melissa and I found that there is no way physically we could make it through this museum in one day. It's just too big and we got tired. Plus it is a "far piece" up there, and we stopped to see the "geographical center of the US" and the "World's biggest ball of twine" The museum is open from 8:00 in the morning till 6:00 at night 365 days a year. I strongly suggest you ride up early enough on Tuesday to spend 3 or 4 hours in the museum Tuesday afternoon and then plan on going back Wednesday morning after breakfast to finish up. I think you are really going to enjoy this ROMEO adventure and you may want to consider spending two nights. It is totally amazing to me how the Pioneer Settlers survived. Twenty eight building on 20 acres, Authentic Originals, arranged in their order of development, mechanical items in operating condition, wives, family and friends will enjoy this invite them all. Don't miss out, make your reservation NOW!! 800-445-4447
