2023 VIRGINIA GRAND TOUR #3 & #6

Post by shoresr »

What a beautiful day for a ride. We broke 80 degrees before we got home today. The warmest day of the year.

Warren called a lunch ride in hopes of picking up stops #3 and #6 on the Grand Tour of Virginia. These stops were in Graves Mill, VA and Skyline Caverns in Front Royal, VA.

We were pleased to have a new lady rider join us today, Susie A.
Susie still works, but since school was on Spring Break she was able to join us. Although Susie, has ridden for a long time, she joined us on one of our longer rides 5 hours - 156 miles, and with some of our most "spirited" riders. The "boys" were perfect gentlemen and Susie passed her inaugural ride with flying colors. Welcome Susie, we hope to see you again, real soon.

You definitely would never visit Graves Mill if you weren't following the Grand Tour. And, if you never visited Graves Mill you would not get to enjoy a beautiful ride in the Virginia Countryside.

After leaving Graves Mill we went to the Black Twig in Sperryville for lunch. The Black Twig was under new ownership, and as you can see from the expressions on everyone's face no one was overly excited about the food. ;)

After a not too spectacular lunch the "SPIRITED RIDERS" took out west on 221 across Skyline Drive into Luray, heading to stop #6, Skyline Caverns.

Thanks to Nancy, Ralph has a cardo unit. Ralph is one of those purist who insisted that he didn't want to have his solitude interrupted with a bunch of chatter. :o After today I heard several of the guys were wanting to know how to "MUTE'" their Cardo Units. Welcome Ralph, nice to have you in the group.

The Grand Tour of Virginia is a fund raiser for the Pediatric Brain Tumor Foundation. If you want to make a $20 contribution and get you very own Tour Book, the address is: Virginia Grand Tour, 205 Pamilico Run, Yorktown, VA 23683
