6/14/2011 ROMEO LUNCH 11:00 am Carrie is opening at 10:00 and is serving breakfast or lunch.

This is a return trip to Tightwad, a classic town of 63 people, and has a great café. The forecast is perfect and we had a real good turn out the last time we visited Tightwad. I called and our favorite waitress Carrie and she was very excited about our visit. She is opening just for us so try to make it if you can.
Romeo Al Hayes and KCTV5 Brad Steven got together and are cooking up a little human interest story about the Romeos. If nothing news worthy comes up on Tuesday they would like to take some pictures of the Romeos and probably do some interviews. They said they would like to get some pictures of some of us riding together so I told them I would gather a few riders in the parking lot of Mimi’s Café, 8301 West 135th St., Overland Park, KS at 8:30 am. At 9:00 am we would ride south down Highway 69 to the Louisburg, KS where we would pick up Highway 2 to Harrisonville, MO where we would pick up Highway 7 to Tightwad, MO. ( http://tinyurl.com/Route-to-Tightwad ) This is 95.6 miles and should take 1:51 minutes. I hope to arrive at Tightwad by 11:00 am. You are welcome to join us for the ride, but feel free to head on down to Tightwad and enjoy yourself. If you have a Romeo Hat or Romeo Shirt don’t for get to wear it.
I would like to thank Al and Brad for the exposure. As the result of the article in the “Good Times” paper a few months back our Romeo group has made many new good friends. I am sure this will also be true of this visit and we look forward to meeting more new “motorcycle riding” friends.
Here is the link to all the Romeo Rides this week: (I try to update the map as soon after the ride coordinators post their rides as I can)

Re: ROMEO LUNCH TUES 6/14 TIGHTWAD, MO
I know one thing, ROMEOS know how to have fun and will smile for the TV cameras
I think one of the funniest things about today was I saw Leland Prothe. Leland had told me he would be unable to make this week's ride, so I was very surprised when I saw him. So I asked him how he came to be here today and he said "I cancelled my plans, I couldn't miss this." It was a special day and we did have a good time.
As you know I put out the S.O.S. for someone to ride with me from Kansas City down to Tightwad. Brad Stevens from Channel 5 wanted to take some pictures of some guys riding motorcycles. I had asked Spike and the "Oatmeal" gang to make sure someone came and low and behold some 28 bikes showed up
We all gathered in a nice shady spot at Mimi's Cafe, close to 69 Highway and 135th Street.A nice bunch of bikes came for the ride down to Tightwad. We were ready to leave. It was 9 and there was no sign of our TV people.Never fear, just in the nick of time our Al Hayes finds Brad Stevens with KCTV5 and we are ready to start off. Brad and his cameraman, Greg, did an incredible job of taking pictures. They photographed us for over an hour riding to Tightwad. They were in front of us, beside us, behind us, in their car, out of their car and along the side of the road. One time Greg, the cameraman, was hanging out of the window of the car holding the camera 2 inches off the ground taking pictures of my wheels at 65 mph

NEWS FLASH I JUST RECEIVED THIS EMAIL FROM BRAD STEVEN, KCTV5
Hi Roger,
We had fun meeting you all as well.
This will air Wednesday, June 29th at 10 pm on KCTV5.
I just looked at the tapes Greg shot and he got some really good stuff. All the ROMEO’s I interviewed were very funny so this should be a really good story.
All the best,
Brad Stephens

Last night 6/29/11 the TV spot that KCTV5 did on the KC Romeo's was shown on the ten o'clock news. The segment was called the "Faces of Kansas City". If you click on the link below and then click on the play button in the middle of the picture, after the commercial plays, hopefully you will be able to see what they ran on TV.
