FLIGHT 93 MEMORIAL, STOYSTOWN, PA 2025

Thanks for the invite Roger, but I won’t make it.
My brother and a friend (Doug) are riding down to Lake Frederick tomorrow, and we’re leaving Friday for some riding in southern VA/WV/KY.
Doug lives in NJ, and his good friend Todd Beamer was on Flight 93. Todd was the one that was heard on one of the live phone conversations from the flight telling the other passengers that were willing to storm the cabin, “Let’s Roll”! It still gives me chills when I tell that story. You can see Todd Beamer’s work ID badge that was recovered from the wreckage on display at the Flight 93 Memorial.
Doug helped run the Todd Beamer Foundation, founded by Todd’s wife Lisa and friends of Todd. The foundation helped children who lost a parent as a result of the terrorist attack. I’m not sure if the foundation is still active.
Have a great ride.
Steve K.
Visiting the Flight 93 Memorial in Stoystown, PA is always a deeply emotional experience—but this time, it felt even more personal. At John L.’s request, we made the trip together. Some in our group had been before, others for the first time.
For me, after reading the above email from Steve, the visit took on new meaning. That Steve’s friend had personally known Todd Beamer, one of the heroes aboard Flight 93. I found Todd’s Oracle ID badge, read his biography and learned that Todd had left behind his pregnant wife, Lisa.
There are thousands of stories like Todd’s, but this visit made it feel like I had lost someone I knew. A reminder that behind every name is a life, a family, a story.
Now for the brighter side. A big thanks to Ramona who took these pictures. She captured the beautiful ride, lunch at the Lincoln Café and the memorial. I have only posted a few of her pictures on this Romeo website. Here is a link to more of the pictures she took.
