For those of you from last week’s ride that were told we were going Frankfort, Ks., there has been an unexpected change because that cafe is closed. The city of Axtell is located just west Seneca, Ks. Vicky, Mick Lowe’s lovely lady, grew up here. This has all the small-town feeling and warm ambiance of country cooking and hospitality. The cafe is open 11am -1:30pm. As far as I can tell right now, Fall weather will be the order for our day’s ride with a high of 80º.

Also, there will be an extra feature after lunch. Mick has offered to lead us on a nearby tour through his brother-in-law’s flower gardens where Vicky’s brother farms. This tour will be announced at the bar & grill as to the details. All who are interested in beautiful flower beds and decorative landscaping are invited. I know that this a just a little skooch further than we’re normally used to, but so far it should be a beautiful day to ride, and everyone is invited. So, until then, “Happy Trails” and hope to see you all there!

Over 300 miles yesterday … you won’t have to ask why I’m just now getting around to making this post. What a day we had! Our attendance exceeded all expectations, and the lunch and fellowship was even better.

An interesting note, at the start of our ride it was fairly comfortable at around 70º, but the temperature only got cooler on the way up. Riding at the normal speed limit some of us started chilling to the bone, including me. Then after a needed pit-stop and adding an extra layer, we all managed to endure a more comfortable ride.

For the following two weeks Mick has so graciously volunteered to coordinate the rides while I’m visiting my relatives in Wisconsin.

Some of you may be interested in our garden tour yesterday. After 66 photos I’m posting a few of the selected ones on a seperate post. Enjoy!!
