This coming Sunday April 11th, the Kansas Short Grass Motorcycle Club will be hosting its April Second Sunday™ daylong motorcycle tour. We have a great scenic tour planned through the glacial hill country of northeast Kansas and northwest Missouri. Our destination will be O’Malley’s Pub in historic downtown Weston, Missouri. Weston is home to McCormick Distilling as well as the Weston Brewing Company, hence the name of our tour: Whisky A Go-Go!
We will meet at the Checkers Foods parking lot, 2301 Louisiana Street, Lawrence Kansas. People will float in from between 9 to 10 am and we leave promptly at 10 am. Be sure to come early and meet the other riders and to register. Typical tours are 200-225 miles with frequent rest stops, lunch and usually a destination attraction. This month’s tour will be focused more on riding than sightseeing. Normally, between 20-30 motorcycle will be along for the day. Singles: $20, Couples: $25. This one-day fee can be applied towards your membership fee if you decide to join the same day. Need more info: strekell@sunflower.com
Our club’s First Annual Century Tour of Colorado is slated for August 7-14, 2010. We will be taking the same route itinerary as our club founders took on their first annual tour of Colorado back in 1910. Tentatively, we have scheduled two days riding time going out to Colorado and two days riding time coming back home. This will leave us 3 days to tour in and around the Rocky Mountain National Forest north of Denver. The pathfinder tour will be run in either late May or early June. Interested? NOTE: All makes and models are welcome. Our members are on a variety of makes and all models of late model motorcycles are represented. So call you buddies and let's meet up on Sunday, April 11th.
Leading the way,
