John O.The LAKE FREDERICK RIDERS took a very nice ride from Lake Frederick, VA to the Flight 93 Memorial in Shanksville, PA. We had 10 bikes and one co-rider make the 200 mile ride. We left Lake Frederick at 8:00 am and return at 4:30 pm. Greg and Warren were the ride planners and they took very good care of the group. We arrived at the memorial about 11 and spent 2 hours visiting the site. The weather was perfect and we were able to miss all the interstates going and coming. It was a very good day, enjoyed by all.A perfect day for to reflect on the memories of September 11, 2001.
Gregory, want to say Thank You, for suggesting the Club ride to the 9/11 Memorial at Shanksville, PA. The Federal Government put up a very impressive tribute to these brave souls who struggled greatly to stop this plane from doing even more destruction and killing many more people at the expense of their own lives – truly a selfless act of heroism.
Also, thanks for lending me money to pay for gas to get me home. Turns out I was trying to use my debt card to pay for my gas – on a quick look, this card looks just like my credit card. That is why the pump kept asking me for my PIN number, and I could not understand why. The last time I used my debt card was back in Texas, well over a year and a half ago. Anyway, THANK YOU for coming to my rescue.
Warren, and Roger, thanks for leading the ride. Finding paved tertiary roads takes time, but it makes for a much more interesting and enjoyable ride. I’ve found, at least in Virginia, you can’t always tell if a tertiary road is paved or gravel. The only way to tell is to ride it in advance. Don’t know if that applies to the many different road we took yesterday through several different states, but the ride was great! Your work at planning and leading the ride yesterday are appreciated. Thanks!
