Our first planned tour for 2010 will be a short-hop-skip-and-a-jump trip to Leavenworth, Kansas. Our destination will be the C.W. Parker Carrousel Museum. I had the privilege of previewing the museum after hours with the curator and got an official behind-the-scenes tour. It a word, it was fascinating! The highlight of my private tour was getting to ride aboard the fully restored 1913 Parker carrousel that was built in Leavenworth nearly 100 years ago. We will stop to get a bite to eat at the High Noon Saloon where they have a sandwich-board style menu. The food is great and the service is even better. Be sure to tell your friends that the Kansas Short Grass Motorcycle Club is amped up and rarin’ to go!
Plan now to join us on the Second Sunday of each month for our exciting daylong tours. We meet in Lawrence, Kansas at the Checkers Foods parking lot at 23rd and Louisiana Street at 9 am and the tour leaves the parking lot promptly at 10 a.m. Our trips include scenic back road routes, friendly people, an interesting destination and oh yeah...a GREAT meal stop.
