Being an old Winfield boy, Brian always likes to head back to the area when he can. He's asked about scheduling lunch at the Green Door – La Familia in Arkansas City several times, but never when I can remember to put it on the list. Well, I finally got it done.

We've been trying to get to the Green Door for a few weeks now, but the weather has looked a bit iffy for trying a longer ride to a new place. The forecast for next Wednesday is promising, so let's give it a shot . (If the weatherman's wrong, we can always travel on four wheels. Good Mexican food is good Mexican food, regardless of how you arrive.)

I've been to the Green Door several times in the past, and the food was always good. A few others have verified that it still is, so we'll be eating Mexican food next Wednesday. (They also have chicken fried steak, chicken strips, and burgers if you're not into Mexican.) The menu (http://www.greendoor-lafamilia.com/gree ... nfood.html) is pretty extensive, so everyone should find something to their liking.

They don't open until 11:00, so there's not much need to arrive early unless you want to kick tires in the parking lot. We'll be in the private room.

Arkansas City is a little over an hour from Wichita (couple of hours from Moundridge...) I'd suggest avoiding the Ark City exit from the turnpike: I think that there's still a detour that will take you down an unpaved road. You can exit at Winfield, and take Hwy 77 south to Ark City (or find a more circuitous route of your own making.)

Cool and overcast day to ride, and no rain. Good day for our first ride ride to Green Door in Arkansas City! Food was good, but had a bit longer wait than usual to enjoy the good taste. Girls worked hard to keep us with drinks and chips as we waited, their service was fantastic. I tried to order two burritos but my gal suggested I'd need only one - great suggestion as one was large and filling.

Stats: We had 27 ROMEO's today. 22 bikes with 24 riders, plus a couple pickup trucks brought in another 3. The 22 bikes rolled a total of 1630 miles to the Green Door La Familia Mexican Cafe, most rolled back as the came not adding an extra adventure to today's ride. Bob Welton rode his Can-Am Spyder 68 miles to be top mileage rider. We had several in the 60 to 65 mile range. Thanks to all for coming today, see you next week.

Photos a plenty, see all below

Sorry I missed the lunch in my hometown. It was my last day to be AROMEO. Now I can be an official ROMEO
