The Kansas Short Grass Motorcycle Club would like to invite everyone to join us at the Lawrence Public Library on Sunday February 21st for the KSGMC's Second Annual Family Reunion and Potluck Supper. This event is open to the public and everyone is cordially invited to attend. We will meet beginning at 12:30 p.m. and lunch will be served promptly at 1:00 p.m. This is a little later than last year's meeting and reflects the new public hours at the library. We will present a brief historic photo slide show of the KSGMC, have some great door prize giveaways, t-shirt sales (discounts for members), great food and wonderful camaraderie---all for FREE. Everyone should bring a covered dish and their own table service. Soft drinks and coffee will be provided by the club. At this meeting, we will be forming committees to help plan our First Annual Century Tour to Colorado August 7-10, 2010. This will be an monumental undertaking by the club and your participation is appreciated. The buzz has already started and here is just one example of the attention that this tour is already beginning to generate:

The above feature article appeared on the front page of the January 7, 2010 issue of Jewell County Record published out of Mankato, Kansas. The reporter, Gloria Garman Schlaefli, was working on what started out to be a local historical research article when she went online and discovered that the Kansas Short Grass Motorcycle Club is still alive and better than ever! Our thanks go to Gloria for her interest in our club's upcoming summer tour. If anyone would like to purchase a full copy of this issue complete with photos for just $2.00, please contact Stan Trekell at strekell@sunflower.com as soon as possible. Also, we just received an email from a motorcycle accessories sales rep in Colorado who has offered his experience regarding Colorado motorcycle routes to help us plan the tour of a lifetime. Lodging space will be limited on this tour, so be sure to mark your calendar now so that you may participate with the KSGMC on tour.
Finally, in breaking news, the Kansas Short Grass Motorcycle Club now has its own tour support vehicle, the Prairie Schooner II. Through the generosity and goodwill of Blue Springs Harley Davidson, we now have access to a Ford E-350 box van with an electric lift gate. It will indeed be ready to go come August 7th on our first annual extended tour to Colorado and back. Keep an eye on this website for future updates regarding this club activity. The KSGMC will have an information booth at this event. The motorcycle entry fee to show a bike is $10.00---or $5.00 if you are a AMCA member. This show is open to all makes and models of motorcycles that are 25 years of age or older. Vendor and show participant set-up time is 6 a.m. to 9 a.m. the morning of the event. There will be judging classes for American, Asian, European, British and 'Other' makes of motorcycles. The "Best of Show" award will be based on balloting by the public. Be sure to tell your motorcycle friends to join the AMCA and the Kansas Short Grass Motorcycle Club at the Douglas County, Kansas fairgrounds on Sunday, February 7, 2010 from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. How about getting a group of ROMEOS together and setting up a show display of vintage motorcycles that are 25+ years old?
