Guys - Sometimes you just don't appreciate nice weather. Today I decided to do something about that situation and went to Buhler in a 40 mph wind. The wind however was in my favor so I gained one point on my little appreciations scale. The chilly temperature was something else. I could have selected my full face helmet but chose to wear my shorty. My bad! I can't blame this on the day however, it was strictly my erroneous choice. I also chose to wear my tourmaster protection jacket with full armor. Good choice but poor thinking again on my part because it was warm in Arkansas where I had worn it last and all the zippers were full open to let in all available wind. Again, not a factor of anything but my bad choice of not thinking ahead. So, as I sit here and contemplate the day, any discomfort I had today was totally a result of my bad choices, not the cool day or the wind. It seems we all get a little lulled into complacency sometimes. Joyce even hinted a couple times about just sitting this one out. Why.......was it the wind. She already said she wanted to go in the sidecar so wind for her wasn't really much of a factor. Was it the chilly temperature. OK, she may have me here. I couldn't find the right hook up cable for the electric vest but she has a ton of other garments and two (2) blankies in the sidecar. I think she should be warm enough considering she had enough forethought to pick her full face helmet.
It boils down to gumption! Ya just have to want to get out and go. Look at the people that sit in the stands at cold football games for crying out loud. Determination........gumption.........call it what you want, you just have to want to do it!
Seven ROMEOS full of desire attended todays lunch in Buhler, and all had a great time together.
Would I have been just as happy in bed rolled up in my blankie. Probably, but I am happy to have made the effort to attend.
We had a good time and had some world class chilli and my piggy in a blanket was delicious. So, am I happy I made the effort to go....absolutely!
If I had not gone, I would have missed the opportunity to run near full road speed with the wind all the way there on the sidecar rig and you just don't get that chance around here that often. That alone was worth the trip. Even the return trip
against the wind was a pleasure because I discovered my rain jacket in the trunk solving my wind draft problem on the trip back.
Next week will be in the 80's they say.........no excuses!
OK, here's some photos of the day............
