OK GUYS You ask for it you got it. As i remember the fine people of Bern heard of the ROMEO'S and called Don and invited us to come to their small town. We went up there and they really put on a good meal, and were really happy to see us. I like going to places that are happy to see us. I just got off the phone with Carla at the Bern Cafe. She was so glad we decided to come back. She said they would have their best special just for us. HOT ROAST TURKEY MASHED POTATOES GREEN BEANS ROLL AND DRINK. These people know how to treat you. You can order off the menu even breakfast. I told Carla we post 11am for a time but these are retired guys that have been punching a time clock all the life. So now they like to do as they please. Some may show up a little early.
As a side note. We all had a good time at the Hub. John Lord tried to do a wheely and broke the u-joint on his trusty bike. Jeff Blevins came to the rescue and hauled his bike home. John if you don't have it fixed buy this Wed I bet your old buddy Jeff has an extra bike you can ride up to Bern with him.
I almost forgot. Our ROMEO friends Ken Krum, and Walt Hoffman are putting on a poker run in Manhattan this weekend that is lots of fun. They have a scenic route and feed you a good lunch. It would be nice if a lot of ROMEO' S went to this.
Something to note..The Hiawatha radio station KNZA announces the coming our group to the Bern community as part of their daily rundown of area happenings
Well, it was a quintessential ROMEO day today with temperatures in the high 70's when 33 ROMEO's made their way to Bern, Kansas to dine at the Bern Cafe. Best of all, everyone was on time, ate on time and left at just the right time. In fact, quite a few spent a lot of time visiting and it took awhile for the crowd to leave. Lots of plans were made for a post-lunch ride. Six of us took the direct route through Pawnee Rock for gas, Humboldt just to look at Nebraskans, and ice cream in Falls City to get back home just so we could get in our 300 miles for the day!

This was the special and they served a lot of it.
This is what it looked like in real life. Bucky promised green beans, so hope you weren't disappointed when they turned out to be peas!
For those early on time, this was the breakfast and Harold, Jr's beard. A few minutes later you could see what it looked like IN his beard.
#2 brought his ROMEO hat to Bern.
The ROMEO dress code is pretty relaxed. You can wear just about anything!
Larry #2 practicing his photography skills.
Still practicing.
Don was delivering his weekly address to the gathered masses.
The Bern community had been given notice that we would be there and added extra law enforcement.
Dominating the street scene.
Some came up in time to go to the library and mail a letter.
Bucky is bellied up to the cafe hitching post.
John, this is certainly not up to the standards of the Bavarian Motor Works or ROMEO! Lets try to get this taken care of by next Wednesday :)
