Just wanted to provide a quick update to this thread. Murphy's in Stark, KS has been sold and is currently under construction to reopen by the end of this month. The new owner is Don Farmer (my brother-in-law) and has some great plans for his menu. The phone number has not changed so he can be reach...

Don, Thanks for the reply. The Shooting Star is long gone, it was stolen just before I went into the Army in 1969. You're right about "rolling a thumper", it had a mean kickback that would put you over the handlebars, the key was learning how to use the compression release! I have my bike ...
