What a glorious day to view an eclipse. I rode up to Dickey Ridge on Skyline Drive for a beatiful unobstructed view. A few serious photographers, but most just came for a picnic lunch. We were told that the sun would be 87 to 89 percent covered and it was.
After a couple relaxing hours of enjoying the views from Skyline Drive, the eclipse was over and I headed to Flint Hill, VA for my first checkpoint on the 2024 Virginia Grand Tour, where I was to find the Civil War marker behind the Church to the right of the paved parking lot. I was to identify the person in the picture next to Col John Mosby on the "Civil War Trails" marker.
