Here we go, gang, summer has taken its best shot for the season and supposedly is taking R&R for our next week’s ride. The forecast as of now tells us that there is going to be a string of 70’s next week, and next Wednesday is one of them. So, let’s get saddled up for a fabulous fall ride through the notorious Flint Hills of Kansas. This will be the start our adventurous scenic rides out west for the fall season.
Ogden’s Backyard Bar-B-Que brings us smoked BBQ and some down-home western cuisine. Their special will be a ½ pound of burnt-ends and macaroni & green beans for the sides. There is a menu should you be in the mood for something else, but I can assure that you’ll leave this place happy and full!
Now, whether you’re riding a 2, 3, or 4-wheeler, or just craving a taste of fall and cooler temperatures, you won’t go wrong on this ride. Until then, “Happy Trails” to everyone, and I hope to see you there!

Below are some group shots in a northside parking lot in Lawrence, KS. before leaving for Ogden.
Well, I’ve got nothing but good things to say about the excellent weather we had for this week’s ride. It was starting in the upper 50’s to the middle 70’s … what more could we ask for! As some of us witnessed, Jimmy (the owner) was overjoyed and elated about our supporting his business and our coming from so many far away places. I shared with him that the Romeo’s primary mission is first and foremost to help small, out of the way, mom & pop eating establishments.
After our long ride and finishing our lunch, some of us took a little trip to the “Kreem Kup” in Amigo, Ks. After that we topped off our long arduous trek home down State Road 99 to 4 Hwy to get a piece of pie in Dover, only to find out that it was closed. Which was fine by me, didn’t need two desserts all in one day. By the time we finally got to Lawrence, I had this urgent need for a long-awaited butt rest before topping off my 300-mile day.
I must confess my dereliction of duty for not taking any photos of all the bikes parked outside,” but did get some good group shots while coming and leaving. So, all was not lost in photographing. We had a great number who came for this long and adventuresome ride. So, let’s take a look at the photos that were taken for the day.
