South Central Breakfast Ride: Wednesday, August 23, 9:30 AM

Post by roginoz »

We're going to head back to a ROMEO favorite for breakfast next Wednesday: Lila's, in Piedmont. They like to see us, the food is always good, and it should be a nice ride through the tail end of the Flint Hills.

Lila's will have a special meal for us, as usual. It's difficult for them to handle a group our size ordering off the menu, and whatever they fix will be good. I don't know if Lila's is set up to take credit cards, so it would be a good idea to have some cash on hand. (I personally prefer to pay with cash at the mom and pop restaurants; I'd rather not have the credit card company skimming four percent off the top.)

Piedmont is just south off of US 400, about 55 miles east of Wichita. The road to Piedmont is ten or fifteen miles east of the Beaumont turnoff, and then there's a short ride south into town.

We'll have one more breakfast ride after this one before switch back to lunch rides in September. Let me or Charlie know if you have a favorite place you'd like to visit.

As always, thru many many years, Lila's Café, the only business in the tiny town of Piedmont took excellent care of the ROMEO gang today. We all enjoyed the same meal, and it was a filling and tasty eggs, taters and sausage meal. All with a drink and at a very reasonable price of a ten spot.

We had 17 ROMEO riding today. The 17 riders rolled a full 1110 miles to the café. Zero wimpy riders, all riding 55+ miles. Moundridge Ron was top roller at 93 one way miles. And two were close to him at 90 miles. I rode 65 but logged a total of 165 making the long way home my pleasure. Likely most rode a tad more as it was calm and tolerable to ride before noon today.

Photos are below. Sadly I forgot to photo Lila. All riders are included except one, and he is always left out. See ya next Wednesday.
Roger has a super place in mind, let's hope it works out. See ya in a week

I used to be indecisive, but now I'm not sure.
