NOVEMBER 30TH, 10:00 AM, BREAKFAST & LUNCH, CHRIS’ CAFE, GREELEY, KS

Post by Al Hayes »

I hope everyone had a “HAPPY THANKSGIVING” with family and friends. And I hope those who had to travel made it there and back safe.

Now, for the last day of November, I’m thinking about riding to Greeley, Ks again. We were there not long ago in August. If you have never been there, you will want to taste Chris’ down-home cooking, and you might even want to make her acquaintance. You’ll not find a more welcoming hostess than this lady. If you like a good “Scrambler” to get you through the day, you will want to try her “Haystack” with gravy all over it, Mumm, Mumm, Good!!! It’ll not only get you through the day but through all of next week!

Just as a reminder, it was not too long ago that she moved the cafe from Osawatomie, Ks to Greeley, Ks. My recollection is that it didn’t take very long for her Cafe to become the talk of the town. Of course, keep in mind that the town of Greeley is not a metropolis either! So, what do you say, let’s saddle up and make our way to downtown Greeley, Chris’ Cafe, and get some of the finest home cooking you’ll find anywhere. Just a word of caution, you’ll want to bring a big appetite!

As a quick reminder, I’m up to 23 riders for our Romeo email list. For those of you who are interested in getting an email reminder each week, send me your name, email address & phone number to romeorider@icloud.com. Until then, “Happy Trails” to you all and hope to see you then.

It was a brisk & frosty day to ride a 2-wheeler, but it didn’t stop 3 brave polar bear riders from saddling up and riding from KC to Greeley. As I was getting ready to take off for our ride today, my thoughts were that I just might find that I would be the only one showing up on account of the frigid temperatures. But this kind of thinking quickly diminished when I realized others were already there, parked in cars and waiting for others to arrive. All in all, it turned out to be quite a number of us attending, far more than I had anticipated for such a cold day. It’s always quite an adventure when gathering with all the Romeo Riders!

After lunch I just couldn’t resist the temptation to follow a couple of these polar bear riders on an extended ride home. “Over the hills and through the woods,” well maybe not through the woods, but through the back roads? I guess when it comes to the subject of frigid temperatures, it helps me to accept, adjust, and try to acclimate as much as I can for the cold winter months ahead.

By the way, as a reminder, I will not be scheduling any Romeo rides after our CHRISTMAS PARTY on Tuesday, December the 20th. We will resume our next year rides on NEW YEARS DAY, Sunday, January 1st, 2023, Green Acres Family Restaurant, Vassar, Ks.
