Option A this week is Smoked Creations BBQ in Ottawa, KS. This restaurant is familiar to many ROMEOs but I don't know that Kansas City has been here. They open at 11:00 but will open the doors about 10:30 for us. When I scheduled the ride, highs were in the mid 80's and I thought that mid-September was a good time to start doing some lunch rides. Unfortunately, the forecast now says 99 for a high. I've told a quite a few ROMEOs that we were coming here so I'm keeping the reservation. You'll find Smoked Creations is worth the trip--in the heat on 2/3 wheels or in air conditioned comfort on 4 wheels. Hopefully, I'll see you there for lunch at 11.

Option B this week will be a return to Roxanne's in Platte City, MO. The possible record temperatures on Tuesday make me think 9:00 is a good time, but earlier is good too, breakfast is served till 10:30.

We had at least 24 bikes and 28 ROMEOs for lunch today at Smoked Creations. I was worried that the heat would keep the crowd down but when I got there the lot was full and more bikes coming in. The restaurant opened early, seated us, and took orders all before their normal opening time. As usual the food and service were excellent. We were joined by a whole table of Eastern Kansas ROMEOS plus some more scattered among the KC bunch. Francis was on his way home from work and stopped in to visit. I enjoyed the morning and hope everyone had a good return trip.
