Ok, some of us have been asking if there’s going to be a “Romeo Rendezvous” this spring. And the answer is a big “YES”! Bob Savner has consented to be our coordinator and go-to man for this event. For contact info:
Bob at 913-645-5325 or
Email him at srsavner@icloud.com
All ROMEO RIDERS are invited to meet at Mather Lodge at Petit Jean Mountain State Park in central Arkansas for three days of fun and riding. This mountain sits majestically in all its grandeur looking over the Arkansas River and is the best kept secret in all of Arkansas.
For directions use your computer or cell phone and enter the words “Mather Lodge” into your Maps App (or) GPS for directions. Presto! Mather Lodge pops right up showing you the way, not to mention all the wonderful pictures on their WEB SITE.
There is a huge dining area available at the lodge for breakfast, lunch, and dinner. There are plenty of places available to lounge for rest and relaxation. And a phenomenal number of selections to choose from when looking for a place to lodge. There are rooms in the lodge and overnight cabins to stay in. And if you’re into camping, they have excellent facilities for that. So feel free to bring your camping gear and enjoy the beautiful outdoors. If you want to bring your RV or trailer, they have plenty of hookups and sites to set up camp.
Mather Lodge:
$85 for a King or Queen single bed, $90 for double Queen beds.
Cabins:
$90 for King or Queen single bed, $95 for double Queen beds.
Camp Sites: $23
RV Sites $36 w/sewer disposal
Wednesday night before heading back home on Thursday there will be our traditional dinner together at 6 pm in the lodge dining area. We will be ordering from a menu. There will be "50/50" raffle tickets sold at the door for a drawing. The winnings of these valuable prizes have been generously donated to us by Cycle Gear in Lenexa, Ks. & Gail’s Powersports in Grandview, Mo. We thank them for their kind and thoughtful generosity!
HERE’S HOW TO GET STARTED! To register call 501-727-5431. You’ll need this group confirmation #: 513822 for the rooms blocked for our group. Anyone who has already registered and been charged a $40 deposit will be refunded. You can cancel any time up until 48 hours before the date of your stay.
FYI: you will want to make your reservations long before, and no later than April 9th. After April 9th all unregistered rooms will be opened back to the public. It is my guess that with limited lodging, rooms will fill up fast. If you should find when making reservations that the rooms are all taken, there are plenty of motels down and around the mountain in towns like Russellville, Morrilton, and Dardanelle.

AN UPDATE & CAVEAT: The State Park does not offer a discounted price for any groups. They do reserve blocks of rooms to groups for a given time which ends 30 days prior to the arrival time. Our group received a block of 38 rooms which have now been filled.
All the rooms blocked for us at the lodge have been filled unless there are any cancellations. That said, there are still eight “House Keeping Cabins” available, equipped with kitchen, living room, fireplace, dining room, & bedrooms. These are priced at ($126 before tax) which were not a part of our block of rooms and are open to the Public on a first come first serve basis.

The Talimena Scenic Byway is well worth the detour on the way to or from the Rendezvous. 54 miles long, full of curves, hills and excellent views. There are almost no side roads that intersect the byway (only people pulling into and out of the scenic overlooks).

I have ridden that "88" route several times while camping at "the chain gang rally" and sometimes you can catch the hang glider guys jumping off the cliffs. Plenty of parking to pull off and watch other enthusiasts enjoy their sport.

Hey, everyone, what a wonderful three days! I don’t know if anyone else feels like I do, but I’m feeling the loss in leaving behind those days that we experienced on Petit Jean Mountain.
I want to thank Bob Savner for all his hard work in making the week a success. He was responsible for all our sponsors donating the wonderful prizes for the raffle. And thanks to all of those who contributed.
I think we can all agree in giving THANKS to the good Lord for the wonderful weather He gave us. His goodness in putting off the rain for the few days that we were together, deserves a “God is so good all the time.”
YES, it was a little warmer than usual, but much better than the alternative. If anyone waited to go home west or north on Friday, your chances of getting wet were more than just a gamble. I almost made that mistake until I had a change of plans and said maybe NOT!
I’m posting some of the events we all shared so you can reminisce and relive all those good times we had together. Here you go for SHOW & TELL:
