Here's a place we haven't been to for a while. It's supposed to be pretty warm Wednesday so this isn't too far. Their special is chicken fried steak.
I finally got that 4 wheeler out of my garage. Despite a minor hiccough. It seemed that on start up it was raining oil. I found a gasket that had slipped out of place when I put a cover on. I fixed that and then found another oil leak. It looked like it was coming from the water pump drive. I replaced the O rings in the pump body and of course one of the bolt holes stripped. A quick Helicoil fixed that and I fired it up yet again. That wasn't it! Upon further inspection I found that an external oil line to the top end was leaking. I found a crack right where the mounting brace was welded to the tube. By that time the owner was there and he had mentioned a slight oil leak. I think I aggravated it when I had to bend the tube slightly out of the way for access to a bolt. My only suggestion was to plug the crack with a little solder. He said "Go for it". So I broke out my solder flux and my crystal blue persuader (torch). I filed the crack into a "V" to expose some fresh metal and melted some solder into the crack. After it cooled I pinched off one end with my fingers and sucked on the other end and it seemed to hold. That test method is crude, but effective. I love the taste of motor oil in the morning. It sealed up the pipe and stopped the leak. No promises. But it was holding.
On the more business side, it looks like about an hours ride to Miltonvale so I figure if we launch from the Iron Skillet @ 12:30 it should get us there on time.
