The inevitable and long awaited bad fortune has befallen me. The cobbler has worn out his last pair of shoes. A little background. I have 3 Moto Guzzis. One is a duplicate of the one I've been riding. The other is a dual sport. Both of which are not roadworthy. Long story short, the clutch on the one remaining roadworthy bike is going out. It's sister bike has been waiting for 4 years for me to put a clutch in it. I just never got around to it. (My brother used to make round tuits in his machine shop, but he never gave me one. ) Well the time has come and the bike is on the lift. I have had the parts for a LONG time and now fate has forced my hand. I'm hoping I can nurse my current bike until I get the clutch in my other bike.
If you're still awake after all of that, it looks like Wednesday will be another great day to ride. I received a suggestion that we go to Council Grove and meet up with the East group. Sounds like a good idea to me so I set it up. They will be there a little earlier than us so we don't slam them too hard.
Sorry for this late posting. Crazy day with the world peace summit, the AC repairman coming, carving special tools and putting the finishing touches on the Ural, time just got away from me. Bottom line is the Salina group will gather at the Sleep Inn to launch @ 10:15.

Things stared to shape up nicely early this week. I got a message from Leonard Williams saying that he is in town and would be riding with us to Council Grove. All the ducks were lining up and all looked good. I arrived at the Sleep Inn to find Leonard already on scene. It was great to see him again. It didn't take long for others to start rolling in and before long we had a group of about 15 for the ride. As our phalanx rolled into Council Grove we found our way to the Saddlerock we found bikes everywhere. Some were already leaving. Bellies full trying to beat the heat. I got Leo settled and he almost immediately went into alert mode. There was a kitten (I'm sure he viewed it as a lion.) was nosing around and he was ready to go into attack mode. He definitely let that cat know his presence was NOT appreciated. The kitten seemed unphased by Leo's threatening demeanor. I met a lot of old friends and some new ones from the east siders. There was even another MotoGuzzi there. That's something I don't see too often. As we filtered in others were filtering out. I think we planned it right to keep the staff busy but not overwhelmed. After the outdoor shots were done I managed to get in and continue the photo mission. Finally I got to grab a seat with Leonard and placed my order for a burger and fries. Being last to order it seemed to take a while for my order to get to me, but when it did I was in for a shock. YIKES! I was given a HUGE plate of curly fries with a substantial burger in there somewhere. It took me a while to burrow through that mountain of fries and get to the burger. I was stuffed at the end of all of that. Of course there was enough for Leo at the end. I gathered up all my energy to settle up and bring Leo his prize. By this time all the other bikes had pulled out. I got over to Leo he was waiting with bated breath. While he was reveling in the burger I gave him the offending kitten moved in to check out this long bodied, short legged visitor. By the time Leo realized he was there the cat was right at Leo's side. He instantly went into attack mode, and I had to separate them before Leo added cat to the menu. Leo and I mounted up I had to remind myself to stop for gas. I didn't on one trip from Council Grove and had serious concerns about making it back. All tanks full we motored happily out of town and backtracked our way back home, thoroughly spent after another great ride.
