Searching through my vast database of Places to eat I ran across this place which we haven't visited in over 4 years and it's in a direction we don't go as often. It's up in Belleville and it came to me via Richard. I just consulted the weather guru and he assured me it will be a good day.

Today when I arrived at breakfast it was almost standing room only as I got the last available chair at the table. It must have been a highly important meeting for that kind of turnout. I'm sure we came up with the formula for eternal intergalactic peace, or something. One thing we did accomplish is to set a time and place to meet for tomorrows ride. We'll launch from the Iron Skillet at 10:00.

We haven't been to the Dinner Bell in Belleville in over 4 years and I haven't ever been there. I looked back in the archives to see if there was any incriminating evidence of my presence, but all but two of the pictures were gone. But I think at the time I was still recovering from my little health issue. Which would explain my conspicuous absence. I once again got myself in a flurried rush to blast out of the house, with the usual result. I was at the launch site well before anyone else. As the others began rolling in we soon had an even dozen when we launched with Lyle in the lead. I knew how to get to Belleville but I have never been downtown. Lyle was familiar with the town so he was a natural for the leadership roll on this ride. Off we go up 9th street until we hit K106 where we found Bruce Shields and Rich McCall patiently waiting for us despite our late start. Then we grabbed a handful of throttle and charged up the freeway to Concordia, and beyond. Rolling up on Belleville we rode right past the place where my truck was resurrected. Finally after 6 years I got the crash damage repaired. I'm so glad that my Dodge truck once again looks like a Dodge truck and not a refugee from a demo derby. Once in town it was a relatively easy route to the restaurant. Parking was rather scattered giving me my exercise for the week, scurrying around, camera in one hand and phone in the other. My niece had called me to regale me with tales of her latest battle with the backyard trampoline. She apparently tore something in her ankle slowing her down for a while. Running herd on 4 kids will be fun for a while. During the call I tried to keep count of the bikes with marginal success. I usually have a hard enough time when I'm not on the phone. This made it nearly impossible. Finally I got inside and placed my order for their special, chicken fried steak. Chicken fried steak usually is what it is. Tasty but not special. But these folks have their own recipe for the breading that made this one a special treat. Served with mashed potatoes, gravy and corn, it made for a very satisfying meal. As the party wound down we started filtering outside for the usual tire kicking session. As stated last week Terry Powell was stricken with a flat tire which he managed to plug. His new tire finally came in so he had to leave right after he ate to get the tire and mow some lawns he had scheduled. Some of the guys chose to take a more scenic route back home but I hit the freeway and blasted back to Salina to find Terry at my place dropping off the tire. That timed out perfectly. I rode over to his place and rode his bike back home so I could do the tire change. When I finished with his bike I called him and we agreed to meet at his house and he gave me a ride back home. There I collapsed into a heap, exhausted after a very full day.

We had riders from Salina, Minneapolis, Carlton, Denmark, Abilene, Topeka, Junction City, Lindsborg, and Canton, with the long distance being Loren Zook form Topeka at 180 miles.

We were riding Honda, Harley, Yamaha, Suzuki, BMW, Kawasaki, CanAm, and Moto Guzzi.
