Brian was asking when we were going to get back to Head Country BBQ, in Ponca City. I don't know if it's the BBQ, or if he's just jonesin' for a longer ride. Either way, we should take advantage of the good fall riding weather to get in a few extra miles.

Head Country BBQ is now Danny's BBQ Headquarters; the name actually changed a couple of years ago. The sauce business, along with the Head Country name, was sold to one party and the BBQ restaurant to another. It's been over a year since we rode to Ponca City. It isn't too terribly far, about eighty miles from Wichita. It's an hour and a half, give or take a few minutes depending on your route. (The Moundridge crew needs to add forty miles, which doesn't seem to bother them...)

Danny's doesn't open until 11:00, so you early birds may need to do some tire kicking in the parking lot.

We had thirty-two people show up for BBQ at Danny's today. I didn't get a count on the motorcycles (Brian has the book for the next couple of weeks,) but I think we only had one or two couples riding two-up.

It was a great day for riding, maybe a little warmer than we'd expect this time of year. The ribs were better than I remembered, and the rest of my lunch was pretty good. I doubt that anyone went home hungry.

Charley will have some photos up soon, and will post next week's ride a bit later on. He's volunteered to set up rides for the next couple of weeks while I'm out of town.
