South Central Lunch Ride: Wednesday, March 8, 11:00 AM

It's been nine months since we ate at the Pretty Prairie Steakhouse & Lil Rascals Lounge, and some of the guys have asked when we're going back. How about next Wednesday? Right now the Weather Channel is calling for a high of seventy-one degrees, after a low of thirty-six the night before; it should be a pretty good day to ride. (I'm ready to get rid of the electric gloves and the extra layer of pants...)

Pretty Prairie Steakhouse has a varied menu (including burgers and sandwiches, steaks, etc.,) in addition to a daily special; we should all be able to find something we like. They don't open until 11:00, but we can kick tires and tell lies on the sidewalk out front if we arrive a bit early. It's only about fifty miles from Wichita to Pretty Prairie; maybe a bit closer for those on the northern edge of our area.

This was scheduled last Friday, well before the fire north of Hutchinson. Pretty Prairie is well south of Hutchinson, just north of US54/US400; it's well south of the fire areas. Our destination restaurants always have my cell phone number, in case there are issues.

It was a pretty good day to ride, especially for the first part of March. Not too much wind until the last couple of miles, and it was all quite manageable. We had thirty-five people, on thirty-two bikes, turn out for lunch in Pretty Prairie. They seemed a bit short on staff (probably hard to get extra help in Pretty Prairie,) and the kitchen had a rough time getting the food out in a timely manner. This place may not be able to handle our group; let me know what you think. Charlie had plenty of time to take photos, though, so check back and see what he saw this week. I'll post next week's ride in a couple of days.
