South Central Lunch Ride: Wednesday, February 8, 11:00 AM

Hot homemade soup on a cold day; sounds good to me. The Breadbasket, in Newton, has a really good lunch buffet: a great salad bar, ten kinds of homemade soup, and homemade bread. There's also a couple of daily lunch specials and a good sandwich menu. If you have any room left after lunch they have really good pie.

Newton is only about twenty-five miles from Wichita: close enough for a cold day ride. The Weather Channel is calling for a high of forty-five next Wednesday, after a low of twenty-five the night before. Bundle up and ride, or drive; we'll see you there.

I'll be back from South Padre Island for this ride. Thanks to Brian for hauling the sign-in book, and to Charlie for his post-ride reports.

It was definitely a good day for hot homemade soup. We had fourteen in attendance, but only three motorcycles. The bikes traveled sixty-seven miles to Newton. It looks like Mac got high mileage for the day, as the Moundridge Boys were a bit closer to home than usual. The general consensus was that we ought to return to the Breadbasket when we start breakfast rides; Steve beat us to the punch by arriving in time for the breakfast buffet today. Charlie will have photos up soon, and I'll post next week's ride in a couple of days. I believe we're heading south and a bit east, just need to call the restaurant to let them know we're coming.
