I've been hankering for a good steak lately and we haven't been here since 01/15/14. They were closed for a while but just recently re-opened. It's an easy ride and the weather looks good so far. But as the pilots say. "Be ware of the weather prophets for the truth is not always in them."
At our regular Tuesday morning get together Terry Powell passed around a flier announcing a Christmas toy poker run scheduled for this Saturday 10/29/16. Bring any vehicle you wish and $10 or a toy of equal value. The run will be starting from the Quality Inn west of I135 on Crawford. Kick stands up at 12:00 noon. Bring a toy and make some kids Christmas. Check out the flier below.
For the ride to M&R Grill tomorrow we are gathering at the Casey's on Ohio and Iron and leaving at 12:15.

10/26/16 This morning started to look pretty good so I struggled through my morning soggy and groggy routine. Leo wasn't putting things together yet so I was able to get things together without tripping over the brown streak shooting all over the house and being perpetually under foot. Leo has been having a problem with fleas lately so I took him to the vet and $103 later he has some ointment for the spots that he's scratched raw and medicine to relieve the itching and some cream to kill those bugs that are still hanging around. The vet said it was a particularly bad year for fleas. I didn't really suspect fleas, since Fritz wasn't bothered. But it seems that different dogs react differently to fleas.
After whipping up my obligatory breakfast of a cheese omelet and a couple pork sausage patties, just to hold me till we get to M&R's, it came time to mount up and head for Casey's for the ride to Abilene. A quick stop for gas and a swing through the bank I find the ATM is down. No problem, There's another branch between here and Casey's. Hmmm. Same problem at that branch. Abandoning Leo in the parking lot I ventured inside in search of the elusive lucre. At this point I'm feeling glad that I had breakfast because lunch was looking a little iffy. After a painfully lengthy encounter with a teller I managed to depart the bank with cash in hand. I was met at Casey's by the six or seven bikes already there. I had about 10 minutes to spare so I managed to get some shots as others arrived. We had about a dozen when all was told. We snaked our way over to old 40 and pressed on for Abilene. When we pulled up to the corner of 3rd and Buckeye Leo caught sight of some cattle profiles that he took exception to and began to announce his presence in effort to warn them to keep their distance. With that threat neutralized we turned left to the restaurant. The parking lot was well populated but we managed to find places for all the bikes. After completing my outdoor photo mission I went in to mostly full dining room. With the sizable crowd that we had I took the opportunity to pass the hat for donations to keep the web site going. Donations came pouring in, and when all was said and done we managed to get a generous $84 which will go a long way to keeping the site up and running. Thanks to all who donated.
I had mentioned earlier that I was in the mood for a steak but being tail end Charlie to the table I settled for the BBQ Bacon burger and fries. It did hit the spot. Maybe there's a steak in my future somewhere. After I got my belly fed I settled up and went out for the usual tire kicking session. It came time to depart so Leo and I mounted up and set off. I couldn't pass up the chance to get some shots of the cattle cut outs that Leo took such exception to, and before leaving town I had to get a shot of the water tower for posterity. Back on old 40 and on to Salina. Another great day of riding done.
We had 43 bikes and 45 riders from Salina, Minneapolis, Chapman, Cuba, Junction City, Denmark, Culver, Hutchinson, Moundridge, Carlton, Pinkerton, Hesston, Culver, Enterprise, Wichita, McPherson, Lindsborg, and Canton, With the high mileage going to Terry and Shiela Rice from Wichita on their HD Fatboy and Yamaha.
We were riding Honda, Harley, Yamaha, Suzuki, BMW, Kawasaki, CanAm, Mail Trike, And Moto Guzzi.
