South Central Lunch Ride: Wednesday, September 14, 11:00 AM

A number of us plan to be at the Hub (near Harrison, Arkansas,) next week for the ROMEO Rendezvous. For those who aren't able to make the trip, we'll have a local ride to the Whistle Stop, in Walton.

Some of you probably heard that we were planning to go to Yoder next Wednesday, but plans have changed. Due to the increased business during the Kansas State Fair, the Carriage Crossing couldn't guarantee that we'd have a place to sit together. We'll try to catch them some other time.

It's been almost a year since we were in Walton, during a joint North Central/South Central lunch. The two groups were a bit too much for the Whistle Stop to handle, but they shouldn't have any problems with just our South Central bunch.

Walton is only about thirty miles (and thirty minutes) from Wichita. The food is good and the staff is friendly. If you're more of a breakfast person, the Whistle Stop serves breakfast until 2:00 PM.

It's difficult to forecast the weather this far in advance, but right now it looks like there's a chance of scattered showers next Wednesday. If it dawns a bit damp, you can jump in the car or pull on some rain gear and show Mother Nature who's boss. Either way it's good food, and pretty decent company.
