South Central Lunch Ride: Wednesday, December 2, 11:00 AM

Post by roginoz »

We'll be switching to shorter rides soon, but it looks like next Wednesday may be decent enough to get some miles in before winter settles in. The current forecast on the Weather Channel shows all the rain, sleet, and snow moving out early next week, and calls for cold and clear with a high of forty-nine on Wednesday. So bundle up and head to the Dutch Kitchen, in Pleasantview. Good food, plenty of room, and a few choices on routes to get there and home.

The official address says Hutchinson, but the Dutch Kitchen is located in Pleasantview, which really isn't a town. It's located a little bit southwest of Hutchinson, on Highway 50 (where 50 and 61 run together for a short distance.) It's about fifty-five miles from Wichita. If you haven't been there before, look for a bunch of motorcycles parked at a restaurant on the south side of Highway 50/61.

It was forty-one degrees when we pulled into the Dutch Kitchen parking lot, according to the thermometer on the ST1300. A bit on the chilly side, but we still had a good turnout. Twenty-six ROMEOs, on nineteen bikes, rode 1145 miles (one way) to Pleasantview. I saw a lot of hot beef sandwiches and soup making the rounds. I opted for a big salad (the little town places seem to have good salad bars) and a big bowl of chili.

I'll have next week's ride posted in a day or two, and Charlie will have photos up shortly.

I used to be indecisive, but now I'm not sure.
