South Central Breakfast: Wednesday, July 22, 9:00 AM

Post by roginoz »

I was planning to route us to Durham next week, but Richard beat me to the punch. (It's either great minds thinking alike, or an appreciation for the homemade sausage...) Rather than have us at breakfast and the North Central group at lunch, we'll visit another old favorite north and east of Wichita and keep Durham for later. We were at Stearman Field back in February for lunch, so it's probably time to catch breakfast there. It's also shorter ride to Benton, about twenty miles from Wichita, so it'll be a bit easier to get there for breakfast without rising too early. (I like breakfast, but I like to sleep in, too...)

As usual, we'll be in the south patio room, which has plenty of space in case we want to hang around and shoot the bull after breakfast. It's also a good place to watch takeoffs and landings, if there's any aircraft activity. Also, a reminder: Stearman Field usually adds the tip automatically for groups our size (but not always,) so check your ticket.

By the way: If anyone needs a shirt, I've re-stocked and have all sizes again. I'll also have some patches left from the batch I ordered.

A quick update:
I have to attend a funeral on Wednesday, so Charley will have the book. I'll have shirts and patches in a couple of weeks, or maybe I can persuade Brian to haul them along on July 29. (I'm heading to Colorado on Thursday.)

We had 27 total today, 24 rolled in on bikes. Gibbo made the 75 miles from Hutchinson, our furthest rider this week. in all we rode 720 miles one way to Stearman Field Restaurant to enjoy the breakfast. Below is photos of ROMEO's, Bikes and Airplanes. Amy and Mac borrowed Gene's Stallion for a photo, Gibbo posed his Trike for a special photo and we had a KAW that is very cool old school. Plus, since Roger was not able to attend, I tossed in a photo I made of his Harley Sportster 1200 last Saturday. See this and more below-

Thanks to Charlie for handling everything this morning. I'll miss next week, too, but for happier reasons (riding to Colorado for a week...) I'll get a ride posted before I leave.

By the way, my XR1200X was one of the bikes chosen for Alef's HD 2016 calendar. I saw some of the group there, and I'm sure the ROMEO votes put me over the top.
