South Central Lunch Ride: Wednesday, June 3, 11:00 AM

We need some new southern locations, so Lonnie scouted out this one for us. The Red Barn is located in Caldwell, about an hour's ride from Wichita. They serve standard cafe fare, so everyone should find something to their liking. There's always a daily special, and they serve breakfast all day.

Caldwell is about sixty miles south and slightly west of Wichita. You can get there via the Kansas Turnpike and US166, US81 and US166, or K42 and K49. There's only about ten minutes difference between routes.

Right now, the weather forcast is good: only a ten percent chance of rain (ninety percent of no rain) and a high of eighty-four later in the day. Time to get the mesh jackets and short sleeve shirts out, finally.

We had forty-two people, on thirty-nine bikes, show up in Caldwell today. The bikes traveled a total of 2578 miles (roundtrip) to the Red Barn. We had at least one new ROMEO: Gary, from Winfield. Charlie will have some photos up soon, and I'll post next week's ride by Saturday evening.

A wonderful day to ride, wind but we are accustomed to wind. I was in a group of 9 bikes and one car going, a couple scattered so 8 bikes returning in the group.
