South Central Lunch Ride: Wednesday, May 20 – 11:00 AM

Post by roginoz »

Once again, it looks like Wednesday will be wet. The Weather Channel is predicting a sixty percent chance of rain; we may get lucky and have dry weather to get to lunch and back, but we'd better not count on it. We'll stay close to home in case we have to drive instead of ride. If we do get a clear period Wednesday a short ride is better than nothing.

We were in Suppesville last December for the final ride of 2014; the people are friendly and it's a good foul weather destination. It's only about thirty miles from Wichita; a decent short ride if it's just light rain, but not too far if we get a non-motorcycling day. The Suppesville Cafe has a daily lunch special, sandwiches, and a nice little salad bar.

Suppesville is located on K-42, just east of the junction with K-2. The intersecting road is 375th W. The cafe is on the north side of K-42. If you’re from around here, you’ve always known the intersection as Suppesville, and have probably ridden past it dozens of times. The Post Office and the Garmin GPS think it's in Milton, but it's actually north of it. The cafe isn't real prominent; it's just east of the gas station, in the same building.

No rain during the ride, but it was a cold and damp day. It hardly seemed like the middle of May. Still, we had eleven ROMEOs on seven bikes in Suppesville today. Those on bikes traveled 269 miles (one way) to get to lunch. The food was good, and the staff was friendly. Charlie will have some photos, so check back if they're not posted yet.

I used to be indecisive, but now I'm not sure.
