Lunch 11 AM, Feb. 4, Bradley's Corner Cafe, Topeka, Ks.

These are the times that try men's (Romeo ride coordinators) souls. With the specter of rain and snowing rearing its head all weekend, we have no idea how the roads will be next week but the temps look not so hot. Wednesday forecast is for a temp at riding time around 19* and low 20's by lunch. So where to go? Someplace we can either ride or drive without too much trouble seems like a good idea. I know we try to avoid larger towns/cities but sometimes you just have to say what the heck, and pick a place that is know for its good food and small town ambiance. So lets meet for lunch in Topeka at:

Bradley's Corner Cafe
844 N. Kansas Avenue
Topeka, Ks.
785-235-0086

For those of you not from T-Town, it is located north of the river over either the Kansas Avenue bridge or Topeka Avenue Bridge, at the intersection of North Kansas Avenue and Laurent St.

Bradley's is not a big place but it should hold us nicely, especially if we avoid their normal breakfast and lunch crowds. They do serve breakfast until 2:00 so I told him to expect us around 10:30ish. He will have both breakfast and lunch specials posted that day. But if you've never been to Bradley's, the specialty is PIE!

I know you normally don't get your pie and your paycheck (or lunch) at the same place, but you might want to make an exception for this. Plus, the idea of a pie ride in 20*degree weather doesn't sound all that appealing!

To heck with the weather, we are ROMEONMTDW! (retired old motorcyclists eating out no matter the damn weather) So I hope to see you next Wednesday at Bradley's around 10:30.

And also thanks to Swanee and Larry #2 for covering for me on the ride report while I was home inspecting the porcelain fixtures this week. They did a great job-thank you!!

When you see a building that looks like this, you're at the proper place.

This was a RODEO day as there were 18 ROMEO Drivers today that appeared for lunch today at Bradley's but there were zero ROMEO Riders! But the food was outstanding and the lunch conversations were flowing and everyone seemed to enjoy lunch here in the thriving NOTO district of North Topeka.

As I was leaving Topeka around noon, the first signs of snow were in the air, but this isn't supposed to last too long. We'll hope for better weather by next Wednesday, because after all, it's one week closer to spring! Still, a great day to be a ROMEO!!!

This is a great little restaurant. Everyone really liked the food, and this would be a great destination pie stop!

Roger and Connie's group were the last to arrive to put our number at 18 so they all had lunch. Look at that slab of meatloaf on Roger's plate.
