We rode a total of 8500 miles in 17 days. Out of the 17 days, we took one day off and rode one short day of 225 miles. So for 15 days, we averaged 550 miles a day. Three of the days were dirt. We rode a total of 1200 miles of dirt.

I did crash once in a construction zone. My front tire sunk in the dirt and tossed me over the bars. A week earlier, my GS rolled off it's side stand and fell hard cracking in half my windshield. The large engine guard took all the punishment and I did get a small scratch on the Jesse paniers. But overall, little damage. With the help of duct tape and JB Weld, the windshield was fixed stronger than before the break. The proof was on the crash, the windshield and crash bar again took all the punishment. When I got home, I replaced the broken windscreen with a Givi I had on the shelf. I just have to touch up the crash bar and the crash damage will fixed. Fortunately, I was wearing a very good Aerostitch Darien and Arai helmet when I landed on my head and back. I'm still a bit sore.

I depart on Monday with my wife on my BMW RT for a tour around Lake Superior.

I will send you a couple of photos to post. FYI....all the SPOT reports were sent by my riding buddy, Bruce Grahn.
