I think everyone will share my feelings, it was "bitter--sweet" saying farewell to Murphy's Landing. Sure the Romeos will miss there fine food, good service and great hospitality, but so will Stark! Just as we look forward to seeing each other each week, so do the residents of Stark. As I was leaving Murphy's today and passed several senior citizens coming into Murphy's for lunch I wondered where will they be going for lunch when Murphy's is gone. The Romeos will have another place next week, but the people of Stark won't.

ENOUGH OF THE DOWNER :? I AM YOUR CHEERLEADER AND WE HAVE PLENTY TO CHEER ABOUT :!:
Junior Wege who does such a great job on the Romeo Fall Rendezvous at the Hub stopped by Erie this morning and brought his charming Grand daughter Alison. Alison will be a senior in high school next year. Her folks have a truck garden. She says picking all those vegetables and getting them to the Farmers Markets is really hard work. This is how she is earning her money for college. We are all wish Alison all the best and it was very refreshing to have her join us for lunch. She rides, too. Junior told me of the time they were riding together, scamblers or dirt bikes and Junior was looking for an excuse to rest :o and Alison said she wanted to ride from Sunup to Sunset ;) What a girl :!: I think you can see, everyone was enjoying the food  It is always nice to see Cheryl. She is almost becoming a regular. It is keeps up Lloyd is going to have to get here a shirt. I saw a pink one on Becky Wednesday. :P Randy said his camera broke, just as I rode up...right :D I missed Maxine and Fred last week. :( Fred said it was a little far for them, so they used good judgement and stayed home. Glad they could be with us this week.John left at 5:30 am Wednesday and rode 196 miles (one way) to the Eastern Kansas ride in Bern. He said today's ride from Chanute was nothing.Oops sorry about the eyes.
Right or wrong I give credit to Corwin for starting the Southeast Kansas "Hit and Miss" Romeo's. Because of the "Miss" part (Corwin goes to Florida for the winter  ) Grandpa Jack has put the lunches on a regular basis. Everyone appreciates everything you two do and have done to give the Romeos a place in Southeast Kansas. Today was my first time to get to meet Corwin's wife, Bonnie. I hope he will bring her more often. ;) Call it want you will "THE MESS", "EVERYTHING BUT THE KITCHEN SINK" but that is a lot of food. From the look on his face, I don't think his wife knows that he is eating all this  Kansas City to Bern to Stark :?: Now that's a bunch of miles, too! (All three of them did it!!)
She has waited on us every time we have gone to Stark. She is almost like family. She will be missed, too.Cliff ordered a hat and shirt. I delivered the shirt today and he put it right on!! :geek: Who says you can't look good in a motorcycle helmet :?: Alison, when we come to Erie for lunch you better join us.

GOODBYE MURPHY'S IT'S BEEN GREAT!! YOU, WILL BE MISS!! THANKS FOR ALL THE GOOD TIMES...

Just wanted to provide a quick update to this thread. Murphy's in Stark, KS has been sold and is currently under construction to reopen by the end of this month. The new owner is Don Farmer (my brother-in-law) and has some great plans for his menu. The phone number has not changed so he can be reached at (620) 754-3222, he should be able to give you a better answer for the exact date for the Grand Opening. The new name is Libby"s Place.

I hope you'll be able to put this stop back in to your planned trips.

Mike:

I am modestly sure that we will be glad to schedule a ride to the new Libby's Place. If you will, just let us know when your brother-in-law Don is going to open. All the ROMEO's from all the areas we ride supported Portia when she opened the café some 6 years ago. Good food, good prices and great company. We will look forward to the opening. Thanks for your post.

I stopped in Stark today on the out-of-the way back from McCune. The may open as soon and August 1, 2013...certainly soon thereafter. They will post to us when they have a definite date. I told them we love "grand openings".
