It was a bit of a tussle this week, between unanswered phones, unavailable managers and whatnot, but I got us set up with another new place. T. A. G's Bar and Grill up north in Scandia. They have daily specials or you can order off their regular menu. The weather was looking a little iffy but the forecast has been improving and I'm confident that it will be a good day. But there are no guaranties.
OK It's cast in stone. The Salina group is meeting at the Iron Skillet for an 11:00 departure. Weather looks like it should cooperate. Especially if it's anything like today. See you there.

It was a typical spring day in Kansas. Cool but tolerable. I decided to leave Leo home to stay warm, much to his disappointment. But I assured him there would be plenty of other rides to come. By the time I got to Iron Skillet about half the crowd was there, with more rolling in steadily. By the time we left we had 15. I expected a ride straight up 81 to 36 and hang a left. But to my surprise we took a left earlier than expected. Being ambivalent about this I was pleasantly surprised by a quite scenic route that unfolded before me. We headed west til we found a northbound road leading straight to Scandia. We rolled into town from the south and found TAGs quite easily. After getting settled I went about doing the photog thing as bikes kept rolling on. By the time I finished outside I had tallied up 37 bikes. Inside I found that we almost filled the place and waitresses were scurrying about fast and furiously. They certainly put forth their best effort for us. I had forgotten to get the sign in sheet on my bike, so while I continued going snap happy Richard retrieved it and sent it on it's rounds. There was a Mexican special for the day but I opted for their mushroom and Swiss burger. They were very generous with the mushroom gravy and the burger was perfect. After we were done I settled up and paid my respects to the owner. Outside the usual tire kicking session was in full swing and the sign in sheet found it's way back to me via Richard. Big Jim came over to invite me to ride with him and some others along the back roads to Salina. I decided to follow along part of the way but when I got to the place where I was planning on splitting off I reconsidered and followed along, since by then the weather had gotten quite pleasant. Riding along I fell into the familiar groove and began to thoroughly enjoy the ride. As we pulled into Salina we gradually scattered toward our respective homes tooting a friendly farewell to each other. When I got home I was accosted by my two dogs who were extremely relieved to find me still alive and having not abandoned them. After I made myself a tall glass of iced tea and collapsed in my recliner in a totally satisfied heap.
Our iron butt rider this week was Delbert Schriner from Canton at 130 miles.
We had riders from Salina, Minneapolis, Chapman, Cuba, Junction City, Culver, McPherson, Lindsborg, Pottersburg, Carlton, Enterprise, Abilene, and Canton.
We were riding Honda, Harley, Yamaha, Suzuki, BMW, Kawasaki. And Moto Guzzi.
