South Central Lunch Ride: Wednesday, November 18, 11:00 AM

Post by roginoz »

We've been to the Panda Kitchen a couple of times now, the last being about eight months ago. We usually get a good sized group, and everyone seems to enjoy the food. It's primarily a Chinese buffet, but they also have a fruit and salad bar; there are plenty of choices even if you're not a fan of Asian food. The price is reasonable, the service is quick (buffet, after all...) and there's plenty of room to accommodate whatever size group shows up (and plenty of paved parking.) They don't open until 11:00 AM, so those of you who arrive early will have to kick tires in the parking lot.

Right now it looks like next Wednesday will be sunny and just a little bit cool. Hesston is thirty-six miles (and minutes,) from Wichita, so driving is a reasonable option if you don't consider it to be good riding weather. The restaurant is just east of I-135, at the main Hesston exit you take to get to Dan's Cycles. Dan's is just a couple of blocks farther south, in case anyone wants to window shop after lunch. Skoops is not too far across town in case you don't overeat at the buffet.

It was a bit brisk this morning (especially on an un-faired bike,) but we had a good turnout in Hesston. The North Central group switched their ride to Thursday this week, so I think we picked up a few double dippers. (They're going to Scoops, in Hesston, tomorrow in case anyone's looking for an excuse to ride.) It was good to see some familiar faces that we hadn't seen in a while. We had thirty ROMEOs at the Panda Kitchen, riding twenty-eight bikes. The bikes traveled 1004 miles, one way, to Hesston. The buffet was good, as usual, and most of us ate too much (as usual...) Charlie will have photos posted soon, if they're not already up.
