South Central Lunch Ride: Wednesday, November 4, 11:00 AM

Post by roginoz »

Charlie suggested that we ought to get back to Lila's before the cold weather sets in. It's one of our favorites, it's been five months since we rode to Piedmont, and the current forecast for next Wednesday looks good. If the weather doesn't turn out as predicted, jump in the car; the food's worth the drive.

In order to serve a group our size in a reasonable time, there's no menu; Lila usually makes more than one lunch special. Generally they're something like fried chicken, pork chops, or chicken fried steak. (The fried chicken is Harley Charlie approved.) Whatever she has this time will be good, and there's usually some kind of dessert included.

Piedmont is just south of US400, about 55 miles east of Wichita. The road to Piedmont is east of the Beaumont turnoff, and then a short ride south into town. If you're coming from the west, don't forget the policeman with the radar gun as you pass through Leon.

If you need a shirt or patch, send me an e-mail (there's a link to click at the top right of this message) and I'll bring it with me to Beaumont. You can also pick up shirts at my garage after the ride, and hang around to BS or see the current projects.

No rain today, but the clouds and wind may have kept some of the group away. They missed some good fried chicken, potatoes and gravy, green beans, and homemade pie. We had twenty-six ROMEOs show up, on twenty-five bikes. One-way mileage for the bikes totaled 1738. Check back if Charlie's photos aren't up yet; I was a bit slow posting this, as we spent the afternoon in the garage after the ride.

I enjoy Lila's for the food and atmosphere. Such a fun ride and entertaining cafe.
