South Central Lunch Ride: Wednesday, October 21, 11:00 AM

It's been about nine months since we've been to American Legion Post 10 in Winfield. Now that we're back to lunch rides, we can head south for burgers and steak. The food is always good, and they treat us like family. They have good steaks, if you're really hungry, but there's also soup and salad, sandwiches and burgers, chicken, and seafood.

It's only about fifty miles or fifty minutes from Wichita to Winfield, but there are some good roads in the area if you want to stretch the ride there or home a bit. (They don't open until 11:00, so you early birds might as well spend the time riding.)

Next week's weather is a bit unclear right now, but it looks like the rain won't come until later in the day. Check the weather the night before or the morning of the ride and dress (or drive) accordingly. Anything short of a toad strangler and I'm riding. (The KLR needs a bath, anyway.)

We had great weather to ride today, and thirty-nine of us showed up in Winfield for lunch at the Legion post. Thirty-seven bikes traveled 1519 miles, one way. Most of us had the special, an excellent chicken fried steak. Leon's and crew did a great job, getting everyone fed quickly. Charlie will have photos up soon.
