South Central Lunch Ride: Wednesday, September 23, 11:00 AM

Post by roginoz »

Another new destination; this one's just a bit west of Wichita, a thirty to forty minute ride. One of the guys recommended Creations Restaurant, in Mt. Vernon. It's a quarter mile west of the 21st Street entrance to Cheney Lake. If you're using a GPS, it may be listed as being in Cheney.

Right now, the weather forecast looks like dry and not too warm. A good time to get out and enjoy the first day of Autumn.

TIME:

11:00 AM, Wednesday, September 23

PLACE:

Creations Restaurant
4996 NE 150 Ave
Mt. Vernon, KS 67025

We had forty-two in attendance today, on thirty-nine bikes. Some knucklehead decided to spread pea gravel over the asphalt 50th St (one of the locals claimed that there was oil underneath, and that it would all be a fine road surface eventually...) so I didn't enjoy the last few miles in. Fortunately, the road south out of town (to US400) was a bit more solid.

Once we got to Mt. Vernon, things improved. They had a variety of food, but I believe that most of us had burgers; mine was very good, and came with fresh-cut fries.

Brian and I ran into a little rain coming back through Goddard, but nothing of consequence. It was a pretty good day to ride, overall.

Charlie should have some photos up soon, so check back if they're not here when you read this.

We'll head east next week. I'll have a ride posted in the next couple of days.

I used to be indecisive, but now I'm not sure.
