South Central Lunch Ride: Wednesday, June 17, 11:00 AM

Post by roginoz »

This is a new place that one of the guys found, just recently opened. The Cassoday Country Store now has a restaurant with a lunch buffet. They open earlier, with a limited breakfast menu of biscuits and gravy and homemade cinnamon rolls, but the lunch buffet doesn't start until 11:00. Wednesday's buffet consists of fried chicken and side dishes, but you can also order off the menu.

If the weather is nice, and you have time, Highway 177 (Kansas' first designated scenic byway) is an old favorite for many of us. If time's a bit tight, the Kansas Turnpike will take you right to Cassoday. It's about fifty miles, and fifty minutes, via the Turnpike; taking 254 and 54 through El Dorado to 177 will add fifteen or twenty minutes.

Wednesday's weather looks a little iffy right now, with a thirty percent chance of rain. The showers are supposed to clear out in the morning, so maybe we'll have dry riding. If it doesn't look like motorcycle weather, we all have cars...

TIME:

11:00 AM, Wednesday,

Cassoday Country Store
15133 NE State Road 177
(Cassoday Exit, south off the Kansas Turnpike)
Cassoday, KS 66842

We had twenty-eight for lunch this morning in Cassoday, and twenty-seven motorcycles. Motorcycle mileage (one way) totaled 1725. Most of us dodged the rain, except for Tad, who rode up from Independence. Good food on the buffet, and there was room for all of us. No photos today, as Charlie was elsewhere. I'll have next week's ride posted by Saturday evening.
