South Central Lunch Ride: Wednesday, April 8, 11:00 AM

Post by roginoz »

Next Wednesday's weather looks pretty decent right now. Hopefully the forcast will hold and we'll get a good day to ride. I was going to run us up to Sterling, but it turns out that Jethro's is now closed on Wednesdays. Brian was sitting nearby when I called and found out that we'd need an alternate destination, and was quick to suggest Carolyns, in Arlington.

Carolyn's is a ROMEOs favorite; good home made food, including the pie. Arlington is about sixty miles, and an hour's ride, from Wichita. Wednesday's special is pan fried chicken (the best kind of fried chicken...,) but there's a full menu in case you aren't a chicken fan. They also have a nice little salad bar with a lot of home made goodies.

Breakfast is served until 10:30, but I think lunch is worth waiting for. We'll be in the back room again, and can spill over into the front dining area if we have a huge turnout (which isn't uncommon when we go to Carolyn's.)

The weather looked a little gloomy, but it wasn't too bad for a ride; just a little fog as we got closer to Arlington. We had thirty people, on twenty-seven bikes, show up for breakfast and lunch. The bikes traveled 1433 miles (one way) to get there. The food was good, and the waitstaff was as tolerant of all us old guys as usual. I'm pretty sure Charlie had a camera in hand, so check back for his photos.

I used to be indecisive, but now I'm not sure.
