South Central Lunch Ride: Wednesday, March 25, 11:00 AM

Post by roginoz »

Spring is officially here, so we're moving from the cold season to the wet season in Kansas. It looks like we may have some good riding days next week; right now the Weather Channel is calling for a high of sixty-five and only a twenty percent chance of rain on Wednesday. I'm going to try to get us a bit farther out of town for our first ride of spring. If the good weather doesn't materialize, we all have cars and trucks.

We haven't been to the Dutch Kitchen since last July, so let's head west for lunch. The food is good, and we have a few choices on routes to get there. The official address says Hutchinson, but the Dutch Kitchen is located in Pleasantview, which really isn't a town. It's located a little bit southwest of Hutchinson, on Highway 50 (where 50 and 61 run together for a short distance.) It's about fifty-five miles from Wichita. If you haven't been there before, look for a bunch of motorcycles parked at a restaurant on the south side of Highway 50/61. I always overshoot the turnoff, but there's another one just down the road...

Bumped back to the top, after adding photos to last week's (March 18) ride report.

It turned out to be a good day for riding; the two o'clock rain didn't materialize, although we did notice a drop in temperature late in the afternoon when the cold front went through (actually closed the garage door and turned on the heat...)

We had forty-one people and thirty-five bikes in Plesantview this morning. The bikes traveled a total of 1776 miles (one way) to lunch. There were a few faces we hadn't seen in a while, and everyone seemed to enjoy the meal and a chance to chat for a bit.

Charlie should have some photos to post, so check back later if they're not here when you read this.

Right now, next Wednesday looks pretty good weather-wise. I'll make a phone call and post something by next Saturday.

I used to be indecisive, but now I'm not sure.
